We're two people, one dog, and a very small studio.
Doogy started because Maya couldn’t bear leaving Cinnamon at a chain daycare. We’re still very small on purpose.
A beagle named Cinnamon ran the whole operation.
Five years ago, Maya was an architect with a five-month-old beagle puppy and a 90-minute commute. The chain daycare down the block was loud, fluorescent, and treated dogs like inventory. Cinnamon came home stressed.
So Maya started walking Cinnamon. Then her neighbor’s lab. Then four more dogs. By month six there was a waitlist, by month twelve Theo had quit teaching, and by month eighteen we’d moved into a small brownstone studio on Linden Ave with a fenced backyard and a serious napping problem.
We’re still that small. On purpose. Because the moment a dog becomes a calendar slot, the whole thing falls apart.
Four things we won't compromise on.
Small pack, always
Maximum six dogs in our care on any given day. Walks are solo unless your dog has a sibling. No exceptions for holidays.
Real humans, not apps
You text the person walking your dog. You don’t get matched, queued, or routed through a chatbot. Ever.
Force-free, every time
Positive reinforcement only. No prong collars, no shock, no “alpha rolls.” Karen Pryor Academy certified.
Every walk, documented
Photos, route map, bathroom log, snack rundown, and a short note from us. Stored in your client portal for as long as you’d like.
Two humans. One studio dog.
Both certified, both insured, both willing to discuss your dog’s preferred squirrel routes at length.
Maya Okafor
Former architect, current dog person. Knows every dog-friendly cafe within a six-block radius of the studio.
Theo Whitaker
Karen Pryor Academy certified. Spends his off-days teaching reactive dogs that other dogs are, in fact, fine.
Biscuit
A nine-year-old corgi who runs the daycare floor with the grace of a retired diplomat. Naps loudly.
Bring your dog by the studio.
Saturday open hours, 10am – 12pm. Treats, water bowls, and a corgi who would love to meet you.
